In meltingly hot conditions in Bremen, a team of us went to the splash party at Lurssen for Pacific, our 85m project with exterior design by German Frers.
In 35 degrees C, the Owner gave a very personal speech (including the admission that he hadn't exactly known what he wanted when Simon and the team set to work) and then pressed a giant red button to set Pacific gently into the water. Her special Pacific blue metallic paint dappled in the sun as tugs brought her alongside at Vegesack, tucked astern of two patrol boats.

There followed an extensive walk around with the Owner as interested in the garbage shredding machine as his own cabin. It was hot. Even German Frers took his jacket off...
The Becks flowed. A cool band played with the Owner's representative on alto sax. A pig roasted on a spit (although the sun was enough ).
Several weeks of work lie ahead until completion.
